Network 2 computers

im a network novice, and i was wondering if there is a way to connect 2 computers together without the use of a network hub or and other device similar to that nature 🙂

I would just install a nic in both machines (assuming they don't already have nics) and use a crossover cable. Use whatever protocol you like (TCP/IP, Netbuei, etc)

like they said above all you need is 2 nic;s (network interface cards) a peice of straight ethernet cable (cat5) and 2 computers. (if you check out newegg.com you can usually get trendnet NIC for $5+$5shipping!

if you want to go the nice route you should invest $25-50 in a router. this wil let you share internet efficeintly and add more computers simply.
