netware 4.10

Is there a way to backup a netware 4.1 server across the network to a win 98 machine? I do not want to simply drag the files over to a client.

The machine in question has a broken mirror and I am afraid to turn it off and install a tape drive or reboot even. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You could install BackupExec Enterprise Evaluation on an NT server and install the netware agent. But I haven't seen a decent backup solution for a win9x platform that will get the file system, schema, and NDS info. Broken mirror, eh? Hardware or software mirrored?

Not sure what the intended purpose is, but you could also use norton ghost for netware on the machine. Netware wouldn't know the difference.

Thanks Guys.

Well I got to see the server. Horrible conditions. it start beeping, then quit and start again. Unsure wether it was the a raid card or the motherboard. I was told by my supervisor to not reboot it and to log into from a client and get some data. We are planning to replace the server with a linux system.

I though about using ghost but the machine might have died on the reboot. When we make the switch over I will use ghost and try to back up the whole machine, schema, and everything.

🙂 Thanks again.

The netware fielsystems are read by DOS as a Partitioned space that is UNKNOWN. If you do plan to use GHOST to backup the system, there is a switch that does a bit-by-bit copy, use that switch when trying to backup your Netware system.
