Netscape or Internet Explorer For New Computer?

I have a new computer that I just finished building. I loaded it with Windows ME. Now I need to decide on what browser to use. I have always used Netscape but am thinking about using Internet Explorer. Which one do you think is better and why?
 
Even though many think Microsoft is evil, you can't deny that IE5 is the best browser out there right now in terms of speed and compatibility. I was a Netscape user for years before switching to IE, and I was really hoping that Netscape would catch up with version 6, but they still lag behind.
 
Netscape: Slow, Choppy, buggy. 6x is much worse than 4x...
IE: I'd definetly go with it...nothin else even competes with it
 
IE 5.5 SP1 because Netscape crashes and behaves like a beta app. Opera is good, but also crashes every so often, and let's face it, even if it complies with all the standards, web pages render better on IE 5.5.

Anyway, you have IE (installed with Windows, required by Office), why install another program?
 
The Verdict is in! I went with IE 5.5. I never realized how good IE was. I was a hard core Netscape customer for years. I just got tired of the constant Netscape error messages that kept popping up and the lack of plugins for some programs. IE loads pages so much faster then Netscape. I didn't realize what I was missing for all those years.
 
Why not both? I have Netscape, IE and Opera installed. Some web pages look better using particular browser. It's not like they will take up lots of storage space.
 
gosh...everyone but me hates netscape. i dont know why, but i've never had any problems with netscape freezing on me or anything like that. and maybe the reason i stay with it is b/c i'm so used to it now. i use v4.76 and i have no problems whatsoever. the only thing i dont like about it is the time it takes to load, and the fact that it eats up a decent amount of RAM until you reboot and clear it.
 
I use a combination of both. Netscape for email, because virus authors don't code for it like they do Outlook Express, and IE for browsing.
 
The latest version of Netscape as been reviewed in PC-Format(Jan 2001) it did not get a very good score only 66% & they said "slow & buggy".

 
Nutscrape? Oh my, I never heard it put that way before. Oh well, I too am willing to admit that I joined the evil empire with my new computer. IE does rule. I didn't feel so bad after hearing about the NS/AOL merger (another evil empire in the making!
 
I prefer Netscape, (I know, scald me later) though it does crash alot. One of the main reasons it crashes has to do with windows itself. Windows was designed specifically to run IE and anything else will cause problems. I admit, however, that the newer versions of Netscape have had several bugs in it (i.e. 4.7 and higher) that's why I stick with the earlier versions. What can I say, I'm still an avid user of Netscape, and will be for years to follow.
 
I have used both quite a bit, and i think that netscape 4.74 is the best. Often times it seems as if netscape pulls a page down slower, but netscape's format is different from ie in that ie will put images and text up as soon as it pulls it down, but netscape will accumulate data first. I would go with Netscape, but not the new 6 version.
