Has AOL ever used Netscape as it's browser, even after they bought it? I've always been under the impression that the used IE as they HTML rendering engine.

I still use NS 4.79 because they so thoroughly screwed up NS in versions 6 and 7, not counting the larding on of all the AOL adware. Pure crap.

I believe aol for macs uses gecko, but I don't think it ever got into the windows version (not sure though). PLEASE DON'T USE NS4!!!! It is 5 years old and is a cancer on the web, let it die please.

Firebird is the best browser ever.

After using IE4/5/6 and Opera 5/6/7 and Crazy Browser add in for IE, Firebird kicks all their asses.
Also used NS at one stage, but dunno which version.

I've used Mozilla on both my Macs and PCs since version 1.0 or so.
The other day I was at my sister's place, and launched IE on her machine... I couldn't believe how many pop-up adds came up within less than two minutes of surfing!
Long live the pop-up blocker of Mozilla!

I've tried Mozilla and didn't like it much. I'm only using NS cuz I've got a zillion BMs and I use it for e-mail. Otherwise it's IE 6 and Opera 7.1 for most surfing.

Why can't AOL just die already? I hate how installing any of their apps sticks that "Free AOHELL" sh-T all over the PC - Start menu, desktop, and favorites without even asking. AOL execs must think that anyone who isn't on AOL is not using it just because they don't know it exists. Maybe we avoid it because it's overhyped, overpriced, slow, and impossible to get rid of if you don't like it? Nah.....
