PS. Reason I'm putting all the links is in case they take them off the air, but the direct link may still work.

Well... I've been going to this address everyday for near a week and I always had the permisssion denied. Today was the only day I managed to go all the way to the files. Either I've been very unlucky all week or something changed tonight.

well, it really dosent matter... because as much as microsoft sucks... netscape sucks more. (from a purely coding point of view)

IE sucks, Netscape rules, die microsoft!!! ;)

Seriously though, I still use Netscape, used IE for a while before I had the time DL Netscape, and I hated it so much.

Downloading both versions now, making about 150 k/sec per download, pretty good for a site on the other side of the earth. :)

Intake77, the new netscape is total rewritten. The open source team threw out the old code like it was the plague. :p I prefer the mozilla versions. Faster, and smaller in size :)

yep, Adul hit it right on the nail!

Mozilla's a sweet browser.. it's not quite as quick feeling as Netscape 4.x for me (it sometimes takes a second for the browser to respond to opening a new window), but it sure takes the cake on everything else..

ie, it's compatible with all of Netscape 4.x stuff (profiles, cache, bookmarks, etc) but it has more compatability with today's webpages.

and it still doesn't crash on me as much as IE did when I tried IE from scratch (which also took down the whole computer with it)..

ie is easier to code for beacause it would fix your sloppy code. netscape wouldn't do that. this is a 23 meg download... i think i'll keep with mozilla for a while.

For those interested, the two versions seem to be identical except for the custom choices during setup where the regular version has more options(none of them desirable imo)

Also if you want to disable the activation connection when you first start N6, find the file all-ns.js and edit the line about activation from true to false.

So far besides the memory consuption and the slowness of certain actions my only problem is with the preference/appearance settings that doesn't let me choose in between pictures, words or pictures and words. The default setting is for pictures and words and that makes my personal toolbar too wide. But at least the personal toolbar now shows more than 14 items, which sorta makes up for it.

Now I have to get used to what all the pages that used stylesheets were supposed to look like. And adjust my own site to the new bloated browser.

Did you change it to the classical look? Or is it the other minor but unchangable changes that bug you?

I for one don't like that you have to go into mail to be able to change the mail settings.

It seems more like a loser than a winner. I guess we all expected something grand after all this time, and what they give us is just a beta1 when compared to the Netscape3 era.

Damned AOL, damned Microsoft.
