netperf netserver.exe weird issues, can't seem to find any answers

Seems like hardly anyone uses this package anymore judging by the dearth of google, bing, or reddit results. Anyone have any experience with running netserver/netperf on windows 2k12r2? The problem I am having is that on some of my servers, the netserver.exe process runs 24/7 with no issues, and on other servers it mysteriously disappears from the list of services after running for an hour or a day. On those machines, if I try to start the process again without rebooting, I get this message: "Starting netserver with host 'IN(6)ADDR_ANY' port '12865' and family AF_UNSPEC" It then just sits there forever saying that and the service never actually starts.
