Netowrk Bridge in Windows XP Pro - Need Help!

Here the situation. Me and my brother both connect to the internet via a hub connected to a router that is sharing a Cable modem connection. I found a pretty neet 3Com 3C905TX NIC laying around and decided to put it in my system. So now I have two NIC cards, the 3Com and a SMC EZ Card . I hooked both of them up to the hub and XP Pro bridged them seamlessly. Everything is working fine and XP favors to use the 3Com NIC more than the SMC card. Should I connect my brother to the SMC card or leave him connected to the hub? My main goal is to restrict how much bandwidth he is using since we have Cox HSI and they are constantly reminding us about "excessive bandwidth use".

No, we are connected to a hub that is connected to a router accross the house that is hooked up to the cable modem.

You can't restrict client bandwidth usage through WinXP's ICS. Limiting monthly bandwidth usage with consumer hardware is going to be somewhat difficult. As usual when people ask these kinds of questions I point them towards http://www.lartc.org for the Linux advanced routing and traffic control howto. That will easily let you limit how much bandwidth he uses but it might be a bit more convoluted if you want to shut down or drastically limit your overall net connection once you near your monthly quota.

Edit: Er, when I said "easily" I meant that the software can do what you want. Installing and configuring it may be another matter. 😉
