Hi all!

I have just installed a Netmos 9835 based 2 serial port card

on my machine. It works absolutley fine in WinXP, but in

Win98 after installing the latest drivers everything seems

ok...it shows the 2 extra comm ports as 3 & 4 in the device

manager, but for any thing that i do with the comm ports(3 &

4) it just shows that "couldn't open port".

Can any body help please.

Manu Thanks

is anything using those com ports.
What does it look like in device manager, both viewing devices by connection, and by type?

Tried installing a external GVC 33.6 modem. I works fine on Comm 1 & 2(On board the motherboard) but gives the error on the serial card. The smae modem works fine on the Serial card under WinXp.(Same PCI slot also).

Well under type it shows as NetMos MultiFunction adapter and under ports it shows comm 3 & 4

Under connection - ACPI - PCI Bus - PCI Bridge - NETMOS 9835 MultiIO Controller- Comm 3 & 4.

Hope this helps....

Thanks

Can you check the i/o addresses.
If any of the addresses overlap with anything else, you are more likely to get a crash than a message, but still worth a check.

Other than that, what happens if you try disabling serial in BIOS
