Netmeeting and Audio Problems

IBM Thinkpad. Win 2k. Service pack 1. Running Netmeeting in the background to enable remote access.

Everything worked 100% fine prior to install of Netmeeting. When we set up netmeeting, there are NO sounds when going into normal mode. Go into Safe and we get critical stop sound only and then we can't get any WAV's to play. We have done the following to try to resolve....

1. Reisntalled audio drivers from the net.
2. Verified Netmeeting settings
3. Unchecked the boxes in the Audio tab of Netmeeting per Q154781.
4. Verified the speakers are operational (hitting the volume button produces a sound through speakers that sounds like the critical stop.)
5. Moved all Netmeeting files to the a desktop folder and rebooted.

Anyone else have this happen?

This is a problem that hasn't occurred much since v1.0. Back then it was because ISA soundcards only supported one stream. With most systems today, you have PCI soundcards, so it's usually a moot issue.

It's possible that IBM used an off-brand sound chip that doesn't support all NetMeeting audio features, or doesn't support multiple streams. Search their KB, I'll bet they're aware of the problem if others have had it.

You didn't say whether or not wave files play after unloading NM. Do they?

You say you set it up for remote access. Do you mean you activated RDS, or did you set it up to run when Windows starts?
