Netgear WNR3500L USB Device sharing password

I just set up my Netgear WNR3500L so I can access the 512MB flash drive plugged into the back from anywhere on the internet. My problem is that is there any way to set a password on it? So far I've been able to connect from different networks without a password. It's a nice concept but if there's no password, I'll have to drop the idea.

I do no have a WNR3500L.

However, any Router that I know have the capacity to configure the WAN port to a specific port, and use a password logon.

Investigate your Router's menu using the Browser (Do not use the so called, Router software).

I figured it out. First off, the router says the settings are ready to go but they really aren't until the router is reset. Second, the password to access the router is the same password for accessing the USB device on it. Not the best protection but it'll do.

Using a Router's USB as a NAS is the least preferred solution for a NAS.

You should feel lucky for the Holidays that it is even working. :sneaky: - :hmm:

If you would like extra protection find one of the free utils that can be installed on the Flash drive and asked for password to be able to read the Flash drive.
