Netgear Wireless router trouble

I baught a netgear instead in the linksys and im managing to get some decent download speeds, only problem is through kazzaa my speeds suck still only get like 8k a second, and then on diablo II lord of destruction i crashes out constantly with my ping going from like 65 and spikign to like 600 anyone know what might be causing this issue? my other computer thats got the wireless card now connects beautifully not lagging and having good all around speeds its just the hard wired one that seems to have problems now it doesent seem to wanna go over 17k a second on any download just starts out at like 250 then drops till it hits 17 or 18 sometimes 20k and thats it
