Price drop. Amazon has lowered the price on the Netgear MR814 802.11b Wireless 4-Port Cable/DSL Router to $9.99 after $30 rebate, free shipping.

Where is the rebate? Tigerdirect seems to be the vendor through amazon and I don't think I'll get any rebates from them.

I have had this router for over a year. This is the MR814 (b version) versus the MR814v2 (b/g) version. I have no complaints, it works like a charm. If you want a router that works AND is cheap then this is your router.

Last I checked the MR814v2 was still a -b router...

Two quick questions...

1. Since this is shipping from TIGERDIRECT, does this mean it's not an "Amazon" product and therefore not qualified for the rebate kindly posted by tedkelly?

2. According to Tech Specs, this only supports WEP 128bit. Any chance that Netgear will patch it to support WAP or any other wireless encryption protocols/security?

That is the right rebate, but sorry I wasn't paying attention there - you have to take the Amazon $39.99 option (on the right) and add that to your cart. Though you do get free shipping that way. So it's $10 AR shipped.

Amazon seems to be linking to the TigerDirect option by default otherwise - can't get a direct link to the right page to work.

But if you add to cart then click on the link in your cart, you can get to a page that shows the rebate

link from my cart

List Price: $99.99
Price: $39.99
You Save: $60.00 (60%)
Mail-In Rebates: $30.00
Price After Rebates: $9.99

Does it have an option where it will work just as an access point? I don't want a router that would separate me from the rest of the network I'm on.

Yea, don't do what I did and order from tigerdirect, it ends up being more from them anyway with shipping included(amazon shipping was free). I cancled and reordered from amazon. Glad I took another look at the thread. Thanks again.

I already have an MR814v2 and it works great wired and wirelessly, I presume that's what I'm getting here.

Thanks to infone's $10 gift certificate I am getting this guy for negative one cent AR.
