I got a new Netgear Wireless N 150, JNR1010 Wireless Router.
I am using a beam cable, Direct LAN connection.

I am having a problem WiFi Range from the time I have opened the box and connected the internet.

The WiFi range is too low. I live in a small 2 bedroom flat. I have placed the router in one of the room and the router doesn't even cover the hall and the signal strength goes to 1 bar or none, which means the signal strength goes to 1 bar or 0 like walking away 3-4 steps away from the router.

Please advice is it possibly a problem with the router or any settings can fix the issue.

Return it (it doesn't work, after all), and get one of these:
WNR2000
WNR3500L (same as above, pretty much, but w/ GbE ports)

If that doesn't do it, it's something with your building, and/or other wireless devices (such as maybe someone around with a draft-n router). I haven't used any of the saucer types in years, but both of the above have been rock solid, with fair range. If one of those two won't work well to at least 50ft, it's not the router.
