I'm visiting my in-laws for Thanksgiving, and they have a Netgear WGT624 version 3 wireless router. Usually it works fine, but periodically it just... stops working. Needs a power cycle because it never starts itself up again. Does this to both wireless and wired clients, and the router itself won't even respond to a ping from a wired client. I asked my brother-in-law and he said it does that on occasion. I've found a repeatable offence - two particular forum posts (in another forum using PHPBBS) will instantly cause the router to die as soon as I click on the link.

Anyways, doing Google searches showed lots of complaints but no single, real fix. Anyone here have any "possible" fixes?

Firewall or internet security software controls the port traffic?
Lastest software for Netgear WGT624?
New CAT5 (might be a defective or a faulty!)

No software firewall on computers. Router running latest firmware. When it "dies" all clients lose connection whether wired or wireless.

I have a wgr614v5 that did the same thing. See my posts here under the nick 'bw'.

Basically, i think heat is the issue.
