I recently setup a wireless network for a friend of mine. He had 2 laptops and 1 desktop that needed to be on it.

I saw netgear came out with a new G standard router the WGT624. The cards I bought to go with it were 2* WG511T's and 1* WG311. The laptop cards installed and configured in a snap. The desktop WG311 however I couldnt get it to function. It saw the network was there but wouldnt connect (was not a signal issue router was moved into the same room as the dektop to test). I have the newest firmware for the WGT24 (as of Nov 1st).

I couldnt figure out why it wouldnt work. I did see that the WGT624 is a 108Mbps "G" and that the WG311 is only 54Mbps "G". I figured it would be downward compatible. I set the router setting for G only (there was an option for "108Mbps" but I stuck with "G only").

Anyone have experience with this router? Or think there might be a problem with the two devices communicating?

They are coming out with a new firmware soon that will incorporate a mixed mode of standard G and 108mbps G......the only router that allows both G's to run at the same time is the DLink.
