IceMonkey.com has this router for $9.99 with free shipping.

http://www.icemonkey.com/netgear-wgr614-wireless-g-router-with-double-firewall-and-parental-controls

Ordered one a week ago for $11.99 and got it yesterday--padded mailer with router, clip-on feet, power supply and network cable. Checking back today, saw that the shipped price had dropped to $9.99.

IceMonkey lists it as a plain WGR614 with no version number. But the pictures are definitely of the WGR614v10--on this final model the antenna was moved to the right side, so the ID is definite.

The WGR614v10 started life as a Wireless G router, but its hardware has N capabilities--in fact, the hardware is identical to the WNR1000v3 Wireless N router. And, surprisingly, the final firmware upgrade enables the N capabilities. So, if you get one, be sure to upgrade the firmware.

Also, if you want, you can crossflash the WNR1000v3 firmware to the WGR614v10. That will give you IPv6 and continued firmware updates. (The WGR614V10 is EOL, so no more updates for it.)

Wyndru posted the crossflashing instructions here and they worked fine for me:

There is an identical deal for this item at dailysteals.com posted in this forum as well. $5 plus $5 shipping= $10

I bought one of these routers awhile back and frankly it was a piece of crap from my experience. Apparently some people are having good luck with the V10.

never had anything but bad luck with wgr614 routers. wifi constantly dies, requiring a reboot. and the range sucks too.

I got one of these from Woot awhile back. It was total rubbish until I updated the firmware on it, but then it was at least somewhat stable.

I'm going to say this every time I see a WGR614 router; they're not good. Unless you absolutely cannot afford to spend any more money on a router, you're better off with something else.

I find it interesting how the electronics companies keep recycling this old junk as refurbished until they squeeze the last dime out of unsuspecting consumers looking for a bargain. They sell them at a price point where the customer won't scream too loud if they get screwed. I'd say do your homework before you spend a cent on these really old refurb routers. It's not just Netgear they all do it.

I bought 4 of them from daily steals a few weeks back, and all 4 of them came in a fully sealed netgear package with all of the accessories, hopefully IceMonkey ships the same thing. After flashing them to the WNR1000v3 firmware all 4 of them are in use and I haven't heard any complaints so far. I have read quite a bit about the earlier versions which had a lot of issues, but most people have stated that this v10 is much more stable, and has the same fcc ID (PY309300117) as the WNR1000v3, which leads me to believe it's the same hardware. So for me, $40 for 4 wireless N routers was definitely worth it.

While the OP states this is V10....I noticed that the add on the website does not state that. So you can't be sure what version you are getting from what I can tell. I did not go over the posted specs perhaps that is where you can tell it is V10. If not then you take your chances.

You've only had them for a couple weeks that's far too early to draw any conclusion as to the quality of this product in my opinion. But that is only my opinion. However I am glad to hear you are pleased with your purchase thus far....:)

As I said in the original post, the pictures make it clear that it is a v10--antenna on right side and wifi on/off switch. These features were only on v10.

Yes you are right how could I have missed that? I'm sure a prominent bargain etailer like IceMonkey would NEVER put up the wrong picture. ;) Enjoy your purchase.

Yes, it's sad that the rest of us are all such uninformed, gullible, and inexperienced consumers who are quick to leap on bait n' switch deals from shady retailers. :)

It's important that someone continually keeps us aware of that. Especially when we're buying $10 items. :)

It really doesn't matter if correct item is received--it's probably the wrong item and we just don't know it. You can never be too careful or use too many emoticons. ;)

Omgosh! I think I've just been the victim of a really bad attempt at sarcasm??

LOL... I think I struck a nerve! My sincerest apologies!
I'm waiting for this to get down to $3 before I jump in! But I'll be sure and check the picture just to make sure I'm not getting ripped off....

donfm, I don't know what your issue is, but I've had really good luck with refurb Netgear routers.

I first purchased two sets of two each, of WNR834Bv2 routers, I forget from where, but likely Newegg and buy.com. I flashed them with DD-WRT, and they were in service for a number of years.

I more recently picked up four WNR2000v2 units from Newegg, and all of them are still working fine. I also flashed those with DD-WRT.

The only reason I "upgraded", was my primary WDS router (WNR834Bv2) was showing low connection speeds, so I figured it was dying. It wasn't until I had replaced them, that I discovered that the problem was the power brick, not the router. I then obtained a whole new set of power bricks (brand-new!) off of ebay.
