Netgear WGR614

I got one for free that is currently shipping and I'm wondering what to expect. I've read varying reviews of this wireless router from it's the bomb to the thing disconnects like mad. Are there ways to avoid disconnecting or is it a quality/hit-miss sort of thing? Thanks for your thoughts.

This is a cheap router - 29.99 at BB - and there many versions out 2 3 and 4 which means there are issues that Netgear is trying to resolve. We got one a couple of weeks back as we needed one in a hurry not sure which ver - has been working OK and had to be re-set only twice - this should be never. I have a Motorola WG850, not a well known model, which has been rock solid for nearly two months - as it should be - may be reset once a year

I've had absolutely awful experiences with Netgear wireless products. Linksys and D-Link seem to be much better IMHO

I went Netgear as my cable company suggested replacing my router with a recent problem I had... (was not the router in the end) but the Netgear I don't even quite like as much as my 2 year old, really cheap GNET router. It always worked fine, and I might even just switch back. Within a week I'd already reset the router twice. I did upgrade the firmware and that seemed to help, as after about 3 weeks now it's only been reset once more since the first week, but the GNET was rebooted like 4-5 times in a year and a half plus! Not that bad IMO.

Anyways, I've also had great experiences with Dlink routers, I personally hate Linksys though.
