Netgear WG511 PCMCIA Card - Will see network, will never gain "connectivity"

I have a Netgear WG511 Card that is absolutely sucking. I'm really close to just throwing it away, and getting a new card.

When I try to connect to some networks, it will see the network, authenticate (If using WEP/WPA), but it will NOT connect. This is on my laptop, WinXP (SP2) and all updates. The wireless utility it comes with will always go "green" meaning actively communicating with the router. But it will never gain an IP, and then it will eventually come up with that damn little exclamation point saying "Limited or No Connectivity." Just did a fresh format on my lappy, first thing I did was install the updated software from Netgear, and it's not connecting here at my sister's house.

In ALL situations, there was always another laptop that was able to connect without any problems.

Any idea's?

I am checking to see if there's maybe some updated drivers that my laptop needs perhaps? Also, going to get two other cards tonite to test around with.

If anyone has any suggestions or troubleshooting tips.....those are greatly apprecaited.

Have you tried disabling the Netgear software and using Windows Zero Configuration (WZC)? Have you tried putting the Netgear card into another laptop that you KNOW works with wireless?

I have tried it in another computer, and it did not work.

Bye bye netgear adapter :-(.

The lights go on, it see's these networks, just will not obtain an IP and connect. I'm not going to throw it away, as I think it can still be saved. But I've wasted enough time "troubleshooting", and I need a reliable way to connect wirelessly.

I will try the Windows Zero Cnfig. option here in a second. Thanks!
