Netgear switch help

I have a Netgear Prosafe 8 port Gigabit switch and I want to expand the number of wired ports that I can use(my router has only 4). Is it as simple and plugging a patch cord from the router to the switch and using the remaining ports or is there some configuration that I need to do. The netgear website is of no help at all.

Yes, it really is that easy. Just connect an Ethernet patch cable from one of the LAN ports on your router to any of the ports on your switch. You can then connect the rest of your network devices to the remaining switch ports.
