Netgear RT314 and Win2K

Other than hooking up my CAT 5 cable to the router, what do I need to do configure my machine? I have a DSL account with a static IP. I hooked everything up, but I can't connect through the router.

What is involved in setting it up besides hooking up the hardware?

Make sure the card is receiving power (the router should have a green light on the port connected to your nic and the light on the back of the nic should also be on).

If that is OK, then make sure the drivers are installed in 2k. Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Manager->Network Adapters.

You can upgrade to the lastest drivers for your card. For routers, I'm pretty sure you use DHCP so...

Control Panel->Network and Dial-Up Connections->Lan Connection X (whatever X is, this will only show up if the card is currently connected). Right click->properties->TCP/IP Properties->Optain IP automatically
