RT314 is using a faster processor than RT311 (sorry I forgot where I got this info).

Staples now has the RT314 also, so go pricematch with onvia.com ($155) - $40 coupon + tax = ~$120. Add the $20 rebate and it's very close to $100. This is for us folks that have no more mercata dollars left.

This is a good deal. Last week I picked up the 311 from Amazon (-$15) and the rebate (-30) so final cost was $68. While it doesnt have the 4 port switch built in, it works great. Not much documentation for setting filters.
Really improved my Q3 pings.

Timing....

If you purchased the 311 last week the final cost wasn't $68 but $73. About 2 days after they started offering the free shipping they raised the price from $113 to $118 :D I got this for the $68 as well and it worked great for a week but now it locks up quite often. The best part about buying from Amazon though is that I just called them up and they are sending out a new one and a mailing label and when the new one gets here I send the old one back - no hassle (plus I haven't spent a penny there but have received over $1000 in stuff thanks to GC's) :D

The RT314 is the best. I have it here and it works great. The RT311 lacks features and has a slower processor.

Review

That is a good review to read...the average price for a RT314 is about 140 bucks....which is higher than the RT311

How does this compare to the linksys router or is it just comparing apples to oranges?
Can someone post a link to the review of the linksys router.

has anyone tried pricematching with buy com when buying from staples com?
i want to know cause i am planning on doing the same thing but am hesitant about staples shady policy of pricematching.
i mean, what price will staples price match to? before or after shipping/tax/etc.

Ummm nevermind about the post before. I did a search on the linksys router and have read the threads on it.

Does this Netgear RT314 have a faster LAN/WAN > WAN/LAN transfer speed than the SMC 700 barricade?
peash.

The Netgear RT314 has more features compared to the Linksys one by far. I was talking to the Electic Tech staff which have reviewed WebRamb, Netgear, Linksys, D-Link, and now reviewing a Hawking Tech router about this same topic.

They said the best one so far they have reviewed so far is the Webramp 700s. It is fast...really fast...and has the most features in the web interface but the problem is that it cots 500 bucks. Too steep for most home users. The second was the Netgear RT314 which came really close to the WebRamp in features but it costs only a 150 bucks or so retail. He said that was the best bet.

The D-Link DI-701 sucks balls according to him. If you want a D-link solution then it would have to be the DI-704. The Linksys one has problems with the firewall but is not bad but lacks featuers compared to the netgear.

Here is a listing of all the reviews:

All the listed Router Reviews On Electic Tech

I would also discuss it here as well...since this guy knows a lot of stuff:

Electic Tech Forums

Let me know if you guys have any questions. I personally have the Netgear router and I totally love it!
