Netgear RP614 router

1)- So I bought this router from eBay. However, it requires me to connect my ethernet cable from Adsl modem to the router. My two Adsl modems (Speedtouch USB & Fujitsu FDX310) both have USB. How am I suppose to connect them with the router?

If the answer is no, is there any plug which can conver USB into ethernet connection? I'd hate to fork out 50quid on a new adsl modem as I already have two!

2)- This Netgear RP614 is also a firewall. Can I safely remove my Agnitum Outpost Firewall software from my PC as now I have a hardware firewall? If possible I'd prefer to remove the software firewall inorder to free up system resources for gaming.

Cheers

Well, looks like they do. There may be others out there as I found this with a search. I didn't know they existed myself.

Opinions will vary on the software firewall issue. I'll say that I'm behind a router here and I do install a different software firewall from time to time to try it out. I usually uninstall them shortly after. Am I fully protected, no.

Your choice. I've made mine.

There are some issues with DSL modems and routers you should be aware of. Here's a link with some information that will explain it better than I can. You will have to research your modem. This may not be an issue for you at all, but could be a real hair-puller if you're having problems getting it to work.

You are a star Boomerang. Thnxs for the help. I'll go for the converter and see how it goes. This is my first time with routersas well. I hope it all turns out ok.

Firewall issue, the device is advertised to be a complete firewall so if possible Id rather go with the hardware firewall than the software one.

Thnxs again

Umm... you can't use that to connect the USB modem to your router, if that's what you're planning to do.

Just buy a better modem.

Uh-oh. Looks like I'm going from "star" to maybe an asteroid. Sorry I didn't think this through. 😱
