I'm done with this crap.

It wasn't as bad when I first installed it, only once a week I had to reset the router to gain network back.
The last couple of days, I had to reset the damn thing 10x a day.
Enough is enough.
Netgear customer support is remarkably un-responsive.

I guess this is what you got with cheap product. What a waste of time and money.

Comments?

firmware was patched to 4.12 successfuly. could not patch it back to 4.00.

Was going to suggest updating the firmware but looks like you've already done that. I had bad experiences with Netgear support in the past also. :( Have you tried RMAing the product? You might have a defective router. Hope this helps.

bigpow, I have a RP614 with firmware 4.12(used 4.00 for a while when I first got it) and it's been running 24/7 for about a month now without the need to reset it a single time.

It seems like you need to keep routers like this on a UPS to keep them working reliably. I have mine on my APC UPS, and it's very reliable. I've seen routers on LANs that don't have protection from power problems, and they all seem to have some of the problems you're experiencing.

RP614 is no better or worth than the rest of the Entry Level Cable/DSL Router. QA is ?bad? across all brands; As a result numerous Routers are troublesome in all brands.

If you will scan the forum you will find that no individual Brand is missing from "Complain Raw." (Linksys, SMC, Netgear, D-Link, etc.)

That why I always say buy the cheapest.

El Cheappos of the month.

Wired.

Link: Belkin 4 Port Cable/DSL Gateway Router. $9.99 (after rebate)

Wireless.

Link: Barricade 11Mbps Wireless Cable/DSL Broadband Router with 4 Port. $29.99 (after rebate).

Link: EZ Connect 802.11b Wireless PCMCIA Network Adapter. $9.99 (after rebate).

Actually, they have a new firmware out. Mine was crashing like crazy on 4.12, but upgrading to 4.13rc5 made it work much better.

Why thank you!
I'll go try it now. Hopefully this works so I don't have to go through all the hassle of RMA-ing it
