Need me one of these routers for qos and to shape download/upload to reduce bufferblaot and because two computers game ethernet. Also need the wifi range for cameras front of the house.

Also have gigablast (1000 mbps from COX).

For XR500 I definitely like the DumaOS and feel like it would be a perfect fit for me as I don't have to flash the firmware, can just set up the qos, shape up the bandwidth and should be set from their. Will also mess around with the geofilter feature which sounds pretty dope.

No firmware flash is needed in this case

For R7800 definitely going to flash it to OpenWRT and enable SQM and enable shaping (pfSense)

Basically only difference is going to come down to OpenWRT vs DumaOS

For DumaOS it will eliminate the need for me to flash firmware + geofilter option is super interesting to me as sometimes in COD I get matches in 30 MS games and other times 60 MS games I would rather eliminate this issue (I prefer this cos I don't have too much time right now to search into how to flash firmware and set up everything)

For R7800 I am gona have to flash it which isn't the problem for me but it just means I gotta put some time to learn how to flash + how to set up SQM + pfSense
Didn't mention this but which of these is the best for 5 Ghz wifi?

Never used "DumaOS". What is it based on? VXWorks? Linux?

As for 30ms versus 60ms latency, from game to game - are you playing on the exact same server, or do the servers change up? That might be the only difference. Don't forget how many people are working from home, while their kids stream videos and game. If you're on cable internet, you'll probably see fluctations in latency from time to time, exaggerated because of current internet conditions. Using a DOCSIS modem with more channels can help smooth that out.

Also something to think about is long-term support for the router. For most consumer devices, after a year, you won't be seeing patches/updates, but that doesn't mean your device has stopped having vulnerabilities detected in it. I would go with the 7800 for that reason, since you can flash it and can maintain it for years to come. Flashing is actually pretty easy on them from my memory. I believe there is a factory-to-wrt flash that you use first, and then after that finishes, you update it with the full wrt flash file. I know in dd-wrt at least, you can do this all through the web interface. I would assume it is similar with openwrt. I also believe with the 7800 you can use alternate methods such as tftp so risk of bricking it with a bad flash is minimal.

It's based on OpenWRT. So it's Linux.

It's used on NetDuma's R1 router (actually a Microtik RB951G-2HnD ) and Netgear's Nighthawk Pro Gaming Routers ( XR300, XR450, XR500, XR700)

Guess OP already asked the same question in Netgear forum?

Wi-Fi wise they look the same.
2.4 GHz: Up to 800 Mbps 5 GHz: Up to 1773 Mbps

$50 more can save you some hassle and apparently gives you more features.
