Netgear PA301 (pholine ethernet card) is running on the phone frequency, so when you pick up the phone it cannot dial and you hear the operator say to hang up and try again. Is there anyway to resolve this issue without sending the card to netgear?

man...thats a tough one. I have 3 comps using the phoneline pa101 usb connector. I havent heard of that problem. I would goto the netgear site and email customer support. Seems like a logical first step.

dammit i dont believe this.... i just got another phonline enthernet card via RMA from netgear, and it has the exact same problem. What the hell is wrong? Well, at least this time netgear says they will pay for the shipping costs.

The wierd thing is that even after i took the pa301 outta the motherboard, every time i would stick a phonline into it, it would disrupt the phoneline. For example, i first unplug the card from the motherboard, and i hear a dialtone on a phone (on the same phoneline), when i stick another phoneline into it, the phonline either 1. goes dead, or 2. becomes staticy, and if i remove the phoneline from the card, the phone works again.

Has anyone had this problem before

bad phonelines on your part. have a tech from your phone company come out to inspect the line. Odds are you have faulty wiring somewhere in the house.

i dont think bad phone lines because i have two other pa301s that work perfectly fine. Ive also tried switching the card around and the problem seems to follow the card, thus ruling out, bad computer and bad phonlines in a specific area of the house
