Hey all, I just recently bought a laptop from MuffD and now I am in the market for a router (both wired/wireless). I currently use the 4 port linksys wired router.

I found someone with a Netgear MR814 for a good price, but the D Link came highly recommended. What do you all think?

I will have 2 desktops hooked up via ethernet cable, and my laptop hooked up wirelessly. I will only be playing online games on one of the desktops. Let me know what you all think and if there is another router you think is even better and still under $60 or so, let me know. Thanks in advance.

Also, the card that comes with my laptop is a Dell Truemobile 802.11b card, does that make a difference on what router I should get? Do I need to have the same brand card as router? I have read about a bonus speed or whatever. Let me know! Thanks.

Picked up an mr814v2 at BB b/c it was 29.99 after mail-in rebates. Have 2 desktops and 2 wireless laptops, one of which uses a dell truemobile 1300. I did see some reports of dell/netgear problems, but I don't really know the timeframe. I haven't had any issues using the latest firmware. Setup so there's no ssid broadcast and using WEP, no problems thus far.

Thanks a lot for the info. I may just go ahead and pick up the netgear and see if it works fine for me.

Could someone please tell me if it will allow me to experience the full speed of my Cable connection, both wired and wireless? (Comcst, 3,000:256)

If that's the 11B netgear, I think I have that at home. Never had a problem with it but only use it on occasion. I have an SMC as my primary router and the NetGear plugged into it as an access point for my wireless laptop cards. I have a long ranch style house and the computer room is on one end and the Theater area is on the other end and downstairs. I can't get a signal in those two areas but I can from the family room which is a bit over halfway between.

All in all I'm happy with it.

I also have a NetGear wireless card I use but I've also used the wireless card I have from work and both worked just fine.
