Netgear Genie hangs pc at shutdown

A couple of days ago I installed the new netgear genie application after replacing my router. Strangely enough windows started hanging on shutdown afterwards. I ended up uninstalling it and windows went back to normal. I was wondering if any of you have experienced the same thing with it? It was the first time I've tried using genie as I usually just open a browser up to make adjustments to the router.
