Buy.com has the Netgear FS108 for $111.95 with Free Shipping.

Use a $10 off coupon if you're a new customer Click Here and then print out the MIR of $40.00 for the switch by Netgear.

MIR for Netgear FS108

I just used a different email and Visa to get the $10 coupon.

I bought one and didn't really need it. I could just sell it later, but its a nice deal as far as I can tell. let me know what you think anyone. This is my first post.

is this only an intra-net style hub, without any uplink to your DSL or Cable modem? I saw that it had an "uplink button", but dunno what that means. I'd like to share my DSL connection between several computers, but don't want to have to set up a server computer.

An uplink is just a cross-over so you can link together 2 hubs/switches/routers/etc with a normal ethernet cable. Otherwise you would need a cross-over cable to do it. For a cable/dsl connection you would plug the modem into that and the other pcs into the normal ports, but this is NOT a gateway/firewal and you WOULD still need a pc as a server.

Not a bad deal, this switch is always rated above the competition ...

it is a switch, not a router, you can't expect anything like firewall, routing service doing with your DSL/cable, you need to buy a seperated router for this switch if you guys want to do such task, or get a combo (like linksys DSL router /w 4 switch).

Okay, i own this switch... and i can't say enough good things about it. It's got a ton of LEDs.. showing activity and status and connection yadda yadda (is it full/half-duplex?, 10/100, active, etc etc). It's in a metal encasing and it feels like it can withstand a couple blows with a hammer. (not that i've tried). Simple to set up and use (just plug it in, I get better transfer rates with this than my previous Trendnet 5-port switch, which i'm selling by the way for $50, okay that was a cheap plug for me). But, I only got this with the Amazon deal on this with the netgear rt311, came out to be $100 total for BOTH! after MIR. You can't beat that! The RT311 is a great router, literally plug and surf. Up and going in 10 minutes! (took a little configuring of my current 4 computer home network, but minimal at that). But netgear is a quality brand that I like and use.

Unlike DLink and Linksys, Netgear makes quality stuff. Open up this Netgear FS108 switch and you're find a Broadcom switch ASIC inside.

WOW, I should have searched first. Oh well! I'll be more careful next time. Anyway, $70 shipped and tax is still a decent price for this switch. I ordered it on Friday and it's here today. That's great shipping speed considering Christmas. Thanks for the replies!!!
