Netgear WGR614 Major Firmware Problem! Help!

Hi, this router was v4 by default. I accidently loaded v3 firmware from the support page. Now I can't log into the router, connect to the router, or access the internet with wireless features.

The reset button on the back is not resetting the firmware.
Connected directly to the router i get the IP of 169.254.137.129 . I still can't connect to the default IP for the router or even access the net.

I have the v4 / v5 firmware ready to load, but holy crap... if i could only connect to this damn thing!

The reset button does not reset the firmware, it just resets the router config back to defaults. Open a command window, start run "cmd" enter. Then run "ipconfig /all". 169.254.137.129 makes me think your not getting an IP from the router. If you are actually getting an ip from the router then the default gateway listed in ipconfig is the ip address of the router. If it's 0.0.0.0 then you may have hoosed your router. If you know what the ip should be for the router you could try using a static IP on your PC. My routers Ip is 192.168.2.1 so I would use that for the default gateway and DNS server entries. For an IP I would use 192.168.2.2, anything between 2 and 99. My routers DHCP gives out 100 and above. If you try that and it doesn't work I think you have a larg papper wieght for your desk. Is ther a com port on the back of your router? If there is you can probabaly use a null modem cable and connect it useing a program like hyper terminal.

13black is right. The best bet is to set an appropriate static IP and try to update with proper firmware. Otherwise, call NetGear.
