Netgear FA311 connection issue

I have a Netgear FA311 on a system using WinXP. When I moved my computer home for spring break I got this strange problem that has persisted even now that I am back at school. Previously the computer would connect just fine to the school's LAN and stay connected perfectly. Now whenever the computer is rebooted you must re-set the network settings and then DELETE the FA311 NIC out of the device manager and then RE-detect the card (which deletes the settings again, so I have no clue why this works) and then it will connect to the network. For some reason the act of rebooting kicks it off the network again. Anyone have any idea why this is? Ask anything about the system you might need to know if you think you can help. This will happen on ANY network, I was at a LAN party over break and had the same problem. Possibly something that I changed while trying to develop that workaround is the culprit?

Ok I just found out that the ONLY thing you have to do to make it work after reboot is to delete the NIC and redetect it in the device manager.
