Which of these two is better ?Netgear 2.4GHz Wireless Cable/DSL Router with 4-Port Switch Model MR814? or ?D-Link Air 2.4GHz Wireless Router Model DI-514? and can they be used as access point.

I have a 8 port linksys hard-line router, I need access point to connect to my router so that I can use my laptop wirelessly, but since access points are expensive I thought to get either of the above wireless routers and use them as access point. Is it possible?

Thank you

If you already have a router, I suggest getting an add on WAP. If you dont already have a router, I suggest getting a netgear model. The current linksys b model has big problems.

Well in our days life is a little more complicated.

If you need just plain Gateway Wireless Device, a Wireless Cable/DSL Router can do it for a price 50% to 80% less than an Access Point.

A WAP btw is a specific Linksys product the general term is Access Point (AP).
