I was given the Netgear ADSL+ DG834G Router as a gift, and I havn't used it yet, as I move from my wired router to wireless. My question is if I have a cable modem (Charter) can I use this router or will I run into snags/incompatability.

Thanks for the advice, if it doesn't work I will try to return it.

If this unit is a Modem/Router combo you probably can not use it for cable since there is No WAN port.

Keep using your old wired Router, and add this thingie as an Access Point.

In principle you do this, http://www.ezlan.net/router_AP.html
