Netflix's new website/UI sucks

Is it just me, or is the new UI (PS3) for netflix is rather cumbersome with the sidescrolling listing. I thought the previous version was great, I was able to browse through movies much quicker than this iteration. I really hope that Netflix realizes this and revert back to the previous or rework their new UI to be more streamlined.

There's a big discussion about this at avsforum.com. The consensus is no one likes the new UI. Personally I don't have a problem with the ps3 interface, but the new watch instantly page on netflix.com is slow and counter-intuitive. Who thought it would be a good idea to not display movie titles (only pictures instead) and force you to hover over the picture for a second just to go to that entry's page?

i don't understand why sites and apps have to constantly fucking change the UI, and in the end it ends up being worse off than it used to be. this happens in nearly every piece of computer software that is out there.

just this week this is like the 4th one i've heard people complaining about.

- Google
- Netflix
- Kotaku (although I think it may be part of Gawker)
- Gawker

I've heard the same complaints about facebook as well, although I don't use it. there is no need to change for the sake of change.

I think they did it on purpose. They did the same shit to the iPad interface and made it harder to find things to watch. Likely so you stop using it as much.

Pay for a service only to be disenfranchised by sloppy UI work.

Way to go Netflix, You are >< this close to losing my subscription.

Yup, it sucks. Less movies per category as well, so less stuff to find while browsing. First they take away the add to dvd queue option and then they shitify the interface. quite annoying

its tolerable on the PS3 but for a PC it fucking sucks ass

honestly the only worse interface is the one the gawker websites now use

This is close to the 1st thing I thought when I saw the new interface on the PC. It's such a horrible design and the old one was so useful. They must want it to take longer for you to find movies which stretches out the amount of time you need to subscribe to find everything you like. If you know what you want to watch, you can still search for it, but if you want to browse, you're SOL now. Their search results have also always sucked anyway. They also return A LOT of duplicate results.

I do not like it either. And the past two times I have gone to netflix.com on my computer it has taken me to netflix.com/wiihome/ for some reason. 😱

Add another person who has been dissapointed by this. The interface and the constant software updates to the PS3 in order to stream a crappy movie I've probably already seen. If it wasn't so cheap, it would be gone (but it still might be).

I have noticed that the quality of the picture has dropped as well...

Google changed the UI because of Google+ and it kind of makes sense when you have (and actually use) it. It's actually really smooth, although probably not for people who don't have it or don't care about it.

Having said that, yes the new Netflix UI sucks big time.

How inconceivable. And by that, I mean completely conceivable!!!

On topic, yes, the new interface sucks. I especially wish there was an easy link to recently watched shows, so I don't have to keep searching for them. That said, I wont be canceling my subscription over this.

I'm kinda disappointed in the way Ubuntu went as well. This app craze is killing me.

Yeah, I don't like the new direction. I'm still running the alpha release of 11.4, but when I get around to reformatting I'll give Debian a go.

The searches on Netflix need more filters. I should be able to search for action movies released in the last 10 years that has a 3 star rating or better. Instead they have the browse option that makes you look through a crap ton of movies each time. I was on the free month but think I'm going to cancel and try it again in a few months to see how it is.

The difference is that, you can revert back to a default setting.. or customize it to you liking.. unlike Netflix.. which, sadly and helplessly are stuck with.

Yeah. It's terrible. I called and complained. They need to fire the designer and get somebody that actually knows what user friendly and feature rich means.

Lots of people are getting failure to authenticate problems with the WMC netflix plugin now too. Myself included. 🙁

The first thing you need to realize is that netflix doesn't design the PS3 interface or any of the interfaces except the website interface. The rest are done by the individual developers for the platforms using the netflix api that anyone is free to use. So if you want to complain then email sony.

I use the windows media center plugin and the interface works great.
