I hear Apple is entering the streaming space and making their own content. Apple has a HUGE war chest. Be curious to see if they can take down Netflix.

Knowing them it will cost $20 bucks a month instead of the regular $10-ish dollar a month. And they will "compete" by using their industry leverage to drive all decent streaming services up to $20 a month.

Didn't they already say it's going to be $20 a month? Their streaming music service is more expensive than the competition too, but it seems to be doing well.

What would really suck for Netflix is if Amazon started offering offline viewing of their conte,..http://gizmodo.com/amazon-video-now-has-offline-playback-1727937007
Finally. I've allegedly got a 15Mbps connection through TWC, but Amazon streaming usually stays down at absolute minimum quality. I can download files at close to 2MB/sec, but streaming video performance is usually godawful.
(And I hate the lag in streaming video when I try to skip around a file. With Amazon, skipping too quickly usually causes the stream to seize up, requiring a reload of the page.)

Local files means I can use a proper full-featured media player, and not have the lag and quality problems, or wait for buffering when it loses the stream.

Is anyone able to list all the movies and shows they'll lose and when? Instantwatcher kind of works, but shows movies long after they're gone. I still mourn TNWM's tracker...

Netflix's movie streaming selection has always sucked in my opinion. That's why I kept the BluRay delivery option on my account, since roughly 95% of the newer movies that I actually want to watch aren't available on streaming.

Thankfully for them, most of their new shows are pretty good. Otherwise, I would have canceled streaming a long time ago.

That said, Amazon Prime's movie selections do not seem much better.

That's not Netflix's fault. The content companies outright refuse to let them at basically any reasonable price because they keep wanting to try and force arbitrary time constraints.

Personally I'm shocked that Netflix hasn't delved into offering per content rental/purchases.

Why is that a big deal? It's nice, but I don't see that being a major issue. Well it might be for Prime watchers since it's so shitty compared to Netflix, but for Netflix users I don't see that being a huge benefit. Frankly this comes across more as something Amazon has to resort to in order to try and match Netflix's quality.

Plus, Amazon and Netflix are likely friendly adversaries. Netflix has helped Amazon majorly with their Cloud services, and in return Amazon has not tried to abuse that to get leverage against Netflix. They both benefit by their successes.

They offered a 3 month free trial when they launched 2 months ago...

Lets see how they are doing next month when everyone needs to start paying.

I just checked and their service is $9.99 a month for an individual or $14.99 for a family. I didn't find how many are included in that, but their website was giving me a headache, so I quit looking.

Apple Music is $15 a month for a family of six people. It's really a good deal for big families.

yeah that pretty much kills streaming for me.

Not that I care since due to licensing issues Netflix and similar services never stood a chance in my country.

TV prices must be a lot better in the rest of the world then. For me in the US, Amazon Prime + Netflix + Hulu comes to about $25 per month while the most basic (and worthless) cable package starts at around $80.
