Someone mentioned the movie "Hot Coffee" in another thread earlier today, so I hopped on Netflix to see if it was available. Their website couldn't find the movie, but a Google search shows that they have it. Has anyone else experienced this kind of frustration with Netflix?

You only have streaming, they do not show you what you do not have access to. Add a dvd plan and you will be able to see it in your search.

Don't use Google for Netflix unless you want to see their DVD/Bluray library.
Yes, it's very disappointing how limited their streaming selection is. It would be nice is movie and television studios could just grant them access to stream all that DVD/Bluray content.

I did a search under DVDs and it said no results. And essentially, what you're saying is "Pay for the DVD service so your search function will work correctly"?

It's apparent you ignored post 2 and it was your salvation.

DVD search works fine for me, but then I have a DVD plan.

It isn't available for streaming.

I appreciate your help, but it's apparent you didn't even try to search for the movie I mentioned. Thanks anyway veteran.

then it isn't available for streaming.

I guess I'm expecting too much from a search engine. I would think it would show the movie and then a message that says "Not available for streaming." Oh well, first world problems I guess.

it used to do this. now it doesn't. so now you know. :)

if you search a movie and it doesnt show up you cant watch it streaming. i'm just curious as to why it matters? i only ask because when they first made the change i was like...what the... but then i realized, it's not like im going to start getting dvds, so what do i care if they have it on dvd or not? it's easier to just know what i can watch streaming.

I agree with the OP. If they have it, it should show up in a Search. Whether the User Searching has access to it is moot. In fact, it could be an advantage for Netflix as it might expand their Customer base by causing Customers to upgrade their Memberships.
