I've rated 700+ movies... and yet they still can't recommend anything that even remotely piques my interest.

They convinced me to watch So Close, so I'll forgive them for the mediocre Duel to the Death.

But yes, I've rated 1,180 movies and the recommendations are still mostly misses, maybe 1 in 3 or 4 I might like.

You ever think that if you've rated almost 1200 movies, maybe you should spend a little less time in front of the TV?

You ever think if you've posted almost 27608 messages to anandtech, maybe you should spend a little less time in front of the computer?

What the hell does this got to do with anything? I'm a movie buff. I definitely watch a lot of movies... but it doesn't "detract" from my life. Idiot.

Ouch. Touche, good man!

Dude, that's a lot of movies you've watched. Is it because of some ingraned desire to get your money's worth out of Netflix?

Wow, no kidding. 700 movies at 2 hours apiece = 58 days of your life that you can't get back.

I haven't Netflixed 700 movies. I've just watched at least that many in 25 years on this planet. I know I've seen a lot more

Another typical notfred asshole response...

Rating movies doesn't necessarily mean you've rented them. I'm sure most of us have seen 1200 movies in their lifetime. You should really think before you post.

That's tough when he doesn't think before doing anything.

LOL, I've been using Netflix since 1999 (back when there was a per-movie rental fee), but I haven't rented anywhere near 1200 with them. I do watch 2-3 discs a week of movies, TV and anime, but almost no other TV besides that.

IS netflix worth it, I was considering trying it out with the free trial they have, but just wanted to get some others opinions. Please tell me they either have a huge amount of each movie or at least a way to prevent the copying of the movies, I don't want to not be able to get the one I want because evryone else is using this service to get free movies.

I'm glad to see that you're not the only one who thinks this way about notfred. All he ever does is give smartass remarks.

Just when I thought my queue was going to dry up and that I've finally 'caught up' to all the movies I've wanted to see...They release some cool new stuff like Season 1 of the original Wonder Woman, Freaks & Geeks and I'm gonna see what Season 1 of The Dead Zone is all about.

Also, now that I've hit most of the movies I've wanted to see...I need a little help with deciding on what might be a decent flick to check out nowadays...The rating system on Netflix (IMO) is a joke, what I do is have 2 Browser windows open; 1 to Netflix and 1 to www.imdb.com. I surf around netflix of whatever sight for movies, then check the ratings on imdb. Anything lower than 7.0 usually gets passed over.

While imdb isn't perfect either, I personally find it to be 'on par' with my opinions of movies.
