New York (CNN Business)Netflix's prices are going up.
The streaming media company is raising the prices on its standard and premium plans for US customers. Its standard plan is now $14 a month, up $1 a month from last year.
Its premium subscription will go up $2 to $18 a month. Its basic plan remains unchanged at $9 a month.
Netflix's (NFLX) stock rose 5% following the news.

The new prices will take effect starting immediately for new members while current members will be notified that their subscription is going up as it rolls out over the next few months.

This seems like a Bad Idea.....

They recently lost subscribers from a Boycott and now they raise prices during a Pandemic/economic meltdown. I wonder how many will balk at paying more?

I already posted a Netflix rant yesterday :)

But, yeah, I agree. The timing on this sucks. They should have waited for a release of a long awaited show before raising their rates. All they did here is remind people that "Gee, I'm still paying that that crap when I now have a free trial of (insert other streaming service here) to watch".
