So $9 will become $10 for new subs, existing users will be grandfathered for awhile.

I wonder how long this trend will continue....

Raising price and losing content, sounds like things going great.

Doesn't really affect most of us. Netflix is still pretty cheap though. Paying $10/mo for content I do watch is a lot better than paying $120/mo for dozens of channels I don't watch.

Just checked and my $8 rate is guaranteed through next May. Even if it went up to 9 or 10 I wouldn't care though. It's such a good deal.

Everyone is laughing now but you know eventually we will have to fork over $100 a month for these streaming services.

CableTV use to cost $18 a month a one time and now it's more then $100.

How long since their last price increase? How much is annual inflation? Yeah, this is just an adjustment to catch back up.

I'm good for another 7 months then a $2 increase. I'll probably keep it. $10 is pretty good for the content available.

I've actually watched everything I've wanted to on NF, I'm about ready to cancel and pick up HBO for a few months.

wow a whole dollar.

I'm bet that the cable companies started out by raising their prices by just a buck or two a year as well. Now a lot of us are paying $200 a month for our triple play packages once you add up the equipment rental fees and taxes.

And how many channels/equipment do you have for $200 vs what you had for $50?

"I remember when Netflix price included streaming AND disks!"

Good for Netflix. If it helps them remain solvent and generate additional original programming, particularly in 4k.

However, unlike the cable industry, there is actual competition in the streaming space and no mandated micro-monopolies. Also said competition is less likely to result in a single monopolistic brand as quality original content is becoming a thing. The result is consumers effectively get ala carte cable like they always wanted. I have the Netflix Channel, Hulu Channel, and Amazon Channel. :p

Probably lose twice as much in your couch every week.
Time to check those cushions.

Oh, I have tons of new channels, but how many of them am I actually interested in watching? I'll bet that half of the crap in my TV package are shopping and music channels.

I could see the same problem happening with Netflix. They keep releasing tons of new content, but the movies that I actually want to watch are still not available via streaming. I signed up for Netflix to watch movies, dammit... why am I paying more for less of what I'm actually looking for?

Ugh, to get a good variety you have to pay for several streaming services and then you're nearly getting into cable price territory...and you still can't watch everything. And people thought more choice was going to be cheaper...

I can watch everything I want to watch, and use broadcast for everything else. The one clincher is ESPN, but it'll go streaming eventually.

Besides, even if I do end up paying the same price as cable I get far more relevant content than I would with cable, and I get all of it on demand. Why should I want USA's endless NCIS marathons when the first 12 seasons are available on Netflix?

I've also rid myself of needing to see a show as soon as it comes out. Some stuff I watch only pops up on Hulu a week later. *shrug* I can wait a week.
