Netflix question

Netflix site doesn't explain this, I was going to sign up to rent some TV shows, if I sign up for the 1 DVD plan, will I be able to rent a TV show that's 3 disc's? they don't really say if 1 dvd = 1 dvd or 1 dvd = a single disc. my neighbor is trying to tell me it's 1 disc for the entry level plan. So if a movie has 2 disc's you're screwed. But I'm seeing 8 disc DVD shows on there. if you got the 1 disc, hell even 3 disc plan, how exactly would one rent Xena which is 9 disc's.

You can select the disc number.

For example for a season of Star Trek TNG, we get 7 discs per season with 4 episodes on each disc. Each disc counts as one DVD.

On our 3 DVD plan, we would get discs 1-3, then 4-6, then 7.

I've always just gotten the main movie when it's a 2 disc set. Of course I let MrsJello do the queue, I just handle the discs once they get here 😉

Is it an option to enable/disable that you want more than just the main disc?

its one at a time.
for ex.
i just got arrested development season 2 disc 2.
(i believe there are 3 discs in total for season 2)

Wrong. Just canceled my subscription and I very clearly remember getting the Invader ZIM series discs 2 at a time (I was on the 2-disc plan) a couple of months ago.

1 disc = 1 dvd

for your tv series example, if you have the 1 disc plan and the tv series is 3 discs, you get disc #1. when you return it, you get disc #2 and so on.

if it's a 2 disc movie, like disc one is the movie and disc 2 is the extras, i believe each dvd will be sent separate, but i'm not really sure on that part.

yup else it would get a bit insane. imagine 3 rentals of tv. 5 discs each.. spamming out 15 discs at a time for one person. don't think so.

I just looked at the site-- it seems to me that if the 2nd disc is extras, you can decide if you want to get it, but I looked at the first LOTR movie, the extended edition and it said in the description "This film spans two discs; both discs will be shipped to you simultaneously." So I guess for very long movies, you get both discs at once.

I rented the Sopranos so I could catch up on shows I hadn't seen because of my work schedule. Each season was 4 disks (IIRC) and each disk counted as one rental. Seems like we rented a movie that came with 2 disks, (LOOOOOONG movie) and they both counted as one rental, but, if the 2nd disk isn't the actual movie, but some of the "extra crap" they often put on a 2nd disk, then that one is a separate rental.

Its a little annoying if you want to sit down and watch a bunch of a series at once, but it makes sense why they do it that way.

a 2-disc movie like fellowship of the ring (extended) counts as one rental and they send you both discs. if it's a series of course each disc is separate. if it's a disc with bonus features only it counts as a separate rental.

the only exception is occasionally they'll run a promo where you get two discs that count as one, and one of them is the bonus features. they did this with Pearl Harbor. but it is very rare and usually even the bonus feature disc counts as a seperate rental.
