Netflix not sending movies from top of queue

I dont exactly have the latest blockbuster movies filling up my queue, and it usually takes me 1-2 weeks to actually get around to watch them, but alas after about 3 months of service I am suddenly not getting movies from top of the queue, just in any random order...

If something is not marked "now" then there are more people asking for a movie than they have copies to send out.

If you keep the movie at the top of your queue they do increase some internal priority so you then get the movie ahead of someone who just added it to their queue today.

I got a movie this week that was in the wrong sleeve. I asked for one movie, got the sleeve for that movie but got a different movie in the sleeve. I can understand how it happened but it's still annoying.

Everything on my queue is available "now" but I just recieved two movies from the bottom of the queue... hmmm.

never happened to us after ~2 years, the only time we haven't gotten the top is if it wasn't available

Hack: Keep just a few movies on your que, that way you get what you want. Works great for me 😀

They do also explain somewhere on the website that they sometimes send items lower in the queue if the items at the top are only in stock at distribution centers far away from you.

They send you disc #5 from a WA distribution center so you get it tomorrow instead of disc #1 from New York that would take a couple of extra days.

If you have a blockbuster around you then blockbuster.com > netflix. I have one < 5 minutes away from me, so I go with them.

Netflix does throttle, they admitted it. Blockbuster has a decent online service and you also get free in store rentals every month.

I was watching a multi-disc miniseries. Put discs 1, 2 and 3 in my queue.

This miniseries normally comes on double-sided DVDs, but often with double-sided DVDs Netflix will put them on two single-sided DVDs. This miniseries has 3 total "sides" - one double-sided and one single-sided DVD.

I watched disc 1, a single sided DVD. Watched disc 2, which also had content on only one side, but it didn't have the typical grey label that many Netflix DVDs have - it was silver on both sides. I felt like things happened between disc 1 and disc 2 that I hadn't seen... Then I put disc 3 in to watch it and it all became clear. Disc 2 was really the "original" disc 2. Disc 3 was the third "side" - a.k.a. disc 2. I had missed Disc 1, Side B, which should have been disc 2.

So I marked disc 2 as the wrong disc and sent it back. Got the same damn thing back! At this point I had essentially rented the same disc 3 times. Knowing that whether I got the right disc or not would be a crapshoot, I just gave up on ever seeing the third and fourth episodes of the miniseries.

It's every week if you pay $10 or more a month. It's a great deal if you have a decent blockbuster near you.

True. What I meant to say is that every plan gets free in-store rentals every month, but how many depends on the level of account you sign up for. Pay more, get more online rentals and also more in-store rentals. At higher levels, the deal gets even better.

Ive never had any issues to speak of. Every so often I wont get #1 or #2, but they always go immeidately down from there. With 250 things in my queue, I can say I have NEVER had them send me something from the bottom.
