Anyone here ever subscribe to Netflix? I did some odd months ago and it was great at first. I got two or three DVDs in my mailbox every couple of days. Then it started to go downhill from there. Within a couple weeks some of the DVDs I had sent back went missing. Some of them finally got back to the Netflix warehouse but them getting lost delayed the arrival of DVDs that I had in my queue. Then the DVD mixups started. I started getting DVDs that I didn't have in my queue, somehow the sleeves got on the wrong DVDs and so they thought they were sending me the right DVDs when in fact they were wrong. Well near the end I had a couple DVDs that once again had gotton lost in the mail on the way back to the warehouse, Netflix would have charged me $20 each for both DVDs but I emailed them and explained that I had mailed them back weeks ago and they dropped the charges. That was right after I cancelled my subscription. Am I alone or have any of you out there had similar experiences with Netflix?

I've done the free trial a few times now (at different addresses).
Never had any problems, but what you described pretty much had me
concerned when I first thought about going through the free trial.

Been w/ netflix since Oct 2001, no real problems yet. I got "Honey I shruck something" dvd w/ my other dvd once. I just mailed it back, no problem. I mailed back a dvd, and it was lost. I just filed out the form and got the next movie in queue.

I love netflix, been with them for 4 or 5 months, I will NEVER rent at another move rental store.
I even goofed up and sent them one of my dvd's (Thumb Wars) back in a Mrs. Congeniality sleeve, my wife emailed them and told them how much of a dope I am and they sent it back!

I have no problems whatsoever. I've had Netflix on and off for a year or so now.

I've had netflix since Jul 2001, 400+ movies rated so far. They've only lost one movie, and that was in transit to me. I've never got any DVD's that were the wrong ones

i used nextflix over the summer for 2-3months... no serious probelms other then some dvds took awhile since they were coming from a warehouse on the west coast *at least i think that was the reason... Lost Mail happen 2x going back to them, I just filed something and it got fixed. In that span of 2-3months i had out 36 dvds.

I've been a member since mid-2000, zero problems and only 2 unplayable discs so far, 0 lost.

My parents have been members for 2 years and have had a couple of lost discs, a couple unplayable, no other problems.

I'd like to try Netflix but the problem is it would cost me more than if I just bought the DVDs I wanted to watch or rented them from blockbuster.

If I have a DVD I want to watch it takes me anywhere from 2-5 weeks to finally getting around to watching it. I just never know when I'll have time to sit and watch a movie.

That's actually the reason I love Netflix.

I don't always have time to watch them, but I've always got something to watch when I do have the time. :)

if you use a comp for dvd or have a htpc then you could just do a full raw rip onto your hd and send the dvd back. its about 5-7GB per dvd. includes menus/special features etc if u use windvd4. i'm talking rip, not encoding into cr@ppy divx.

I used them for awhile way back when they first started, it was good for the first two months and then it went bad. The movies took for ever to get back to them, they took forever shipping movies to me and worse of all some of the movies were showing up damaged.

The damaged movies weren't fully watchable so I decided that was enough netflix for me. I usually just rent at BB and always inspect the disc to make sure it isn't scratched or broken.

go w/ the 4 movies / month $14.95 / month plan. i think it would suit your needs. you can only have 2 checked out at any given time but you can keep them as long as you want. you just won't get your next movie until you send one back.

i just signed up and am canceling my digital cable. basic cable will suffice for the tv watching that I do and now i can have 5 to 8 movies a month. not bad.

i've rented 6 dvd's from blockbuster over the last 3 months, 3 of them were unwatchable and i had to take them back. thing was i inspected them and the scratches weren't visible. it's weird how some scratches that are visible don't effect quality of move and some that aren't can ruin the movie.

some dvd players are also more finicky about scratches then others too.

Hmm, if most of you haven't had problems with Netflix is it possible that my local post office is either run by idiots who can't process the mail correctly or full of thieves who are stealing the DVDs out of the mail?

I wouldn't doubt that some of those returning DVD's disappear....

My player will play a lot of roughed up DVD's but if there cracked in half then it isn't going to play. I haven't had a bad blockbuster dvd rental yet cause I always avoid the ones that look like someone took steel wool to them.
