I was excited about it, but then Tivo announced netflix stream this morning. I'll be using my Tivo(s) instead.

Same situation for me, especially since I don't have Live Gold atm. (I was equally bummed to find out that I couldn't just try it out using a sub-profile on my sister's account.)

That's not to say I object to having the option on the 360 - I think it's absolutely awesome that Microsoft is giving us these choices.

I'd be curious if MS is offloading much of the server load from Netflix in order to get the service onto Xbox, and could also explain why the 360 is the only platform to provide the HD movies when it releases. Netflix may not have the infrastructure to handle HD yet, but MS already has it built up around the XBLVM.

If you get the unlimited streaming account, can you really stream all you want? Or will there be some hidden cap?

I have no plans to rent any physical media whatsoever.

Well, Netflix and Tivo just mergered. Would be interested in a Netflix/Tivo/360 setup. That would be sweet.

I just read streaming in HD requires a connection of 8mbps or greater. That's higher then I thought it would be.

link to article where they merged their business?

Or do you mean that Netflix streaming will be available through a Tivo just like the 360, Roku and some BluRay players?

That's a good bet.

I have Gold (love it), but don't have Netflix. I doubt I'll do the Netflix through the Xbox360 deal. I currently have BlockBuster. It's a much better deal for me because I can rent BD through the mail and return them at the BB just down the street as well as perform an in-store exchange for another BD or DVD for free.

I thought they ended that?

Still going. It used to be unlimited trade-ins but now it is 5 trade-ins a month. After the 5th, you get a discount on rentals ($1.99). I used to be able to go from store to store and do 5 trade-ins at each store so I was never limited. I think they caught on to that and tied all their systems together now though.

The best was when you could do trade-ins for free games. That was sweet. Now all you get is a discount from $8.99 to $4.99.

have live gold, not subscribed to netflix, will not subscribe to netflix.

i honestly don't really care at all about the NXE and the dash update.

I have Netflix and will be signing up for Live gold here soon.

i dont play games online but have been waiting for this netflix/Xbox deal for awhile now.

I've been sitting on my current 4 blockbuster online DVD's for like 2 months now, did they cut off the unlimited exchanges for all plans? Last I heard my plan @ $35 still had unlimited, & I've never been refused an exchange (and I was definitely over 5 a month until very recently...).

TV show streaming could definitely get me to switch to Netflix, or at least add them @ their $8.99 plan. I really like my unlimited local exchanges, assuming they haven't cut that off I don't really want to cancel blockbuster.

Ahh, I didn't realize Blockbuster Online added a whole new 'Premium' Tier. Link. I'm on the standard tier $19.99/mo plan which limits you to 5 in-store exchanges/month.

I have Live gold....but I may drop it if I don't play more multiplayer games. Unless Netflix requires Live Gold, 'cause I'm totally going to drop Blockbuster and get Netflix as soon as they roll out the update.

It's limited to 3 or 5 exchanges per month now, based on your plan. The only reason I kept Blockbuster was because of the convenience of exchanging the mail-ins (even if it's only 5 times per month) was really attractive since one is not always in the mood to watch the movies that came in the mail.

But downloading, even a limited selection totally offsets that, IMO. The fact that Netflix plans are simply cheaper to start with helps too. Then add on that we live in a new house which is farther from the nearest Blockbuster (by about 5 miles)...it's a brain-dead decision to me.

That's too bad, but it still ends up being cheaper than the Blockbuster membership.
