Netflix: Is it possible to force buffer to make HD?

I don't mind waiting for a show to buffer if it will then render in HD. Can I force this option?

Speedtest.net say I am getting 35 Mbps, so something is wrong if it is not in HD.

Yeah you have way more then enough for HD. I dont know if it effects all players or how it works outside of PC but you can set your video quality on your netflix account (in your web browser). It does seem to effect how my PS3 plays content.

your account > manage video quality

my netflix video usually never starts out as HD, but after a few minutes will gradually turn to HD.

That is the problem - it is set to that & I am getting plenty of bandwidth according to SpeedTest.net
