I think this is the first time I've experienced such a wide outage.

Netflix kicked out my account on two different browsers, and they say they are having technical difficulties for their logins.

Thousands of reports of outages in the last hour reported to www.canadianoutages.com

http://canadianoutages.com/status/netflix

Normally they have something like a dozen reports of problems but in the last hour it's been upwards of 3000.

Down in the US too -- go there with a browser and it says to sign in, but the sign in link goes to an error page.

Good thing I have a few unwatched shiny discs on hand.

I had to leave the house, first find my pants, car keys, wallet, cell phone and where the car was parked.

It was quite the ordeal. Eventually rented a Redbox movie, got my Gary Oldman fix and discovered Gal Gadot.

Could have just rented one on Amazon/Youtube/Google Play/Vudu/Fandango/.....

Depends on what you are renting, brand new movies probably not, but movies that are out on video for 6 months or so, there are a lot of sales. And then you pay for the convenience and if nothing else, for the car and gas.

Car - for example, if you have a mid size sedan, the price of the car falls by 20k for 100k miles, so you are paying 20 cents per mile and maybe another 5 cents if you including the gas and oil/tire and other maintenance. So if you traveled 4 miles then you actually spend $2.50 for the movie, not $1.50 + the inconvenience :D
