If you are referring to the link you posted, I have to disagree with a lot of the cons. I get all the DVD's I rent within 2 days of shippipng at the latest. It's usually the next day. I almost always return all 3 I have out at the same time too, so I get the next 3 DVD's in my queue 2 days after I ship out the three I had out. I have also never had a problem with scratched disks and I can play all the DVDs fine on my DVD ROM drive, Xbox 1, Xbox 360, PS2, and my cheapo Cyberhome player.

In my experience:

# Poor/nonexistent customer service - Wrong
# Monthly subscription fee (even if you don't rent anything) - Big deal? That's the same way with every single subscription service out there
# Slow turnaround time (from the time you return a movie and get one back is approx. 1 wk.) - Wrong 3 days on average
# Frequent renters get penalized with even slower turnaround time - Pissed off because Netflix is trying to stop you from pirating?
# service deteriorates after free trial (bait and switch) - Wrong
# Long waits on new releases - Wrong This is only true if you fall into the frequent renters category
# No shipments on Saturday, Sunday or holidays - Don't remember
# Most DVDs are badly scratched and may not play (advice) - Wrong Sure they have some scratches, but I've only ever received one horribly scratched DVD
# Broken & lost DVDs through the mail - Wrong Only happened once
# Rentals do not arrive in the order requested - Wrong

I used to love Netlflix, but I just don't have the time to watch 9 movies a week. Back to 3 movies a month at block buster.

they have repeatedly shipped movies that weren't near the top of my queue, despite them ALWAYS showing as "available." When I call and tell them, they admit that the queue is wrong. Once, I called them just hours after the wrong movie had shipped, and magically the correct movie was suddenly "available" again.

They don't report when they actually get the movie back. It's been taking upwards of 5 days for movies to get to them -- but always one day to get back here. We ship straight from the post office.

Their policies intentionally make it slower for people who rent more movies. Read the Terms of Service. You DO NOT have the ability to get unlimited movies like they claim. If you are renting too much, they will slow your turnaround down. A lot.

bah...

that and they have almost no customer service. Have you ever tried looking for a phone number on their website?

No person legitimately watches 6-9 movies a week. If you're pushing a two-day return period, yea, they're going to slow you down, because it's clear your intentions aren't legitimate.

I don't compare their service to my fantasy world of renting a billion movies a month for $1. I compare it to the cost of watching an equivalent numbers of movies that I rent from the local video store. Since I suck at returning movies on time, netflix is a big winner for me.

For $15, even a casual renter can get 8 movies. That's less than $2 per movie. How is this a bad deal?

Umm...so you're calling me a theif? If you want to judge me, why don't you sit in a corner and suck your thumb because you DON'T KNOW how many movies I attempt to watch in a week. Bye.

I get 12 movies a month for less than $20, many new releases. It's a bargain compared to what I can get locally.

If you are watching 6-9 movies a week, you are paying about $0.50 per rental that is delivered to your door. You have nothing to complain about if they slow you down a bit...

For me, I have never had to call them up for anything customer service related so I can't comment on that.

However, I do get my movies usually in 1 day from when it leaves their warehouse, 2 at the very latest. I have never gotten a movie out of order from my queue either. If I have 10 movies in my queue, I get the ones in spots 1, 2, and 3. Hell, I've even received a few DVDs that were labelled as "Short Wait".

You can *easily* watch 6 movies a week. Gimme a break. That's less than one movie a day. There is no requirement that the customer watch less than 6 because it's supposed to be unlimited as they keep advertising. What they should be advertising is if you watch more than 6 a week than we'll slow you down. Then, they would not be lying. I'd be pissed if i paid too because they're just turning into another blockbuster or walmart.

False advertising is illegal for a reason.

BTW, I'm lucky to get 3 movies a week, much less 9.

PLUS WHY DO THEY HIDE THE FACT THAT THEY ARE SLOWING ME DOWN? They always ship out the same day they report that they get them....but they're lying because it doesn't take a week for the movie to get there. The shipping facility is about 2 hours away.
