Netflix actually offers further discounts to cancelling members?

With the Netflix turnaround time increasing for me as of late (Bay Area) I've been considering cancelling my account. However, I recall reading on these forums that Netflix actually offers a lower rate to those who are deciding to cancel. Anybody know how this works/details?

Its the holidays...mail always slows down. Oddly enough my netflix turnaround time has not

With most big companies looking to keep some of their long time customers they will offer a discount if you try to cancel service. I believe some cell phone companies did this a while back and it was a big thing on the "hot deals" forum. Give it a go, worst comes to worst and they don't offer you a discount and you don't want to cancel...just say so

Get Walmart version of netflix it's $2 cheaper. Or blockbuster for same price you get 2 in-store rental coupons.

I signed up for their two week free trial. The website sucked. The shipping time sucked. I didn't search for any obscure movies, but I hear their selection is not as good as Netflix. Seemed like a lot fewer movies were available for immediate shipment (many were all rented out).

I've been using Hollywood Video's Movie Value Pass for the last few months, $10 for the first 3 months, 3 out at a time. That's a lot nicer on the weekends when I watch a lot of movies.

they were able to keep me with the discount offer as i was cancelling. I'm at the lowest level now and I'm still not using all my rentals each month.

They do but it varies. I assume that they look at your rentals per month to figure out whether or not they actually make enough money to bother keeping you.

walmart is too slow. blockbuster is too slow. the two instores are not incentive enough. I guess it helps to be w/in 5 miles or so of the distro warehouse

What is this all about? I have a Hollywood Video nearby. Is this via their website or you actually have to go in the store? How's the selection?

It's in store, they have sign-up forms there. The selection is obviously whatever they have in the store, so not as good as Netflix. For $10 a month it's been well worth it for me. I'll probably even keep it when it's $15 a month.
