Has anyone upgraded a netbook's RAM using DDR2-800? The netbook came out with DDR2-667. I have access to a 2GB stick of 800 and want to see if my netbook will work with it. I do know if it works, it will be at the 667 speed.

I know someone will come on and say that my netbook's model is needed, but I just want to know if anyone has done it.

Thanks

One other thing- most netbooks can only recognize 2GB max memory and when calculating that, you need to subtract any memory that is soldered to the motherboard- meaning, if it came with 1GB soldered on the mainboard, the most you could add is 1GB to end with 2GB. Some of the Acer Aspire One's came with 512MB so all you could add is a 1GB sodimm and end up with 1.5GB max. This was a limitation of the 945 chipset used with Atom imposed by Intel to clearly delineate between netbook and notebook computers. Some netbooks don't boot up with a 2GB stick in there. Some only recognize 1GB. they all run at 533MHz (PC24200/DDR2-533) except the ones that can run in turbo boost mode like MSI. I don't know if they increase FSB or they increase the multiplier.

my dell 9 came with 512mb stick of DDR2-800 stock , but the max speed i think was 667, i bought a 2gb 800 stick and it ran nicely.
