American Jews have long been staunch Democrats, but over the last 15 years or so the Republicans have been pretty successful in courting them. It looks to me like the Republicans look to have US taxpayers finance, to the tune of $5B, a political offer.

They are trying to buy votes.

They will likely win!

Last month, every country in the United Nations condemned the U.S. for it's embargo against Cuba - except one country, Israel. Just a little pay back for supporting us.

That and the fact that the Cubans have troops on the ground in Syria supporting the Shia side of the current Islamic War whereas the Israelis are on the Sunni side.

And regarding foreign aid.. that's to get something back. We get nothing back from Israel except Israel killing American Citizens.

More like Israel is like America's wealthy and entitled kid bully who regularly binge drinks and crashes his car killing people, and we keep showing up in court telling the judge and jury (i.e. every other country) that he can't be held responsible because he has "affluenza" and doesn't know any better. I wonder who or what gave Israel this entitled and arrogant attitude and the idea that they can act with impunity?

Give us a shout when fuckwad isn't in office anymore, later.

The aid package is the consolation prize for the Iran deal. Bibi would much rather we spend several trillion to destroy Iran the same way we did Iraq but all the propaganda efforts from Israel & friends came to naught.

Expect right wing politicians to use the occasion to beat some cash out of Israel's supporters.

OP brings up a good point if we have to make changes to SS or Medicare for our retired folks we simply cannot afford to be handing out money like this.

Raise the contribution cap from the limit of about the first 115k (in that ballpark iic) in wages/salary for Social Security to about 230k that might solve much of the funding problem with that. But that won't happen. I don't know as much about medicare as I should.
