Israel's attorney general announced Thursday that his office had indicted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on corruption charges after a two-year investigation.

The prime minister faces one count of bribery and two counts of fraud and breach of trust.

Police have previously recommended indicting Netanyahu for bribery, fraud and breach of trust in three different cases.

Police recommended an indictment in the case based on evidence collected that confidants of Netanyahu promoted regulatory changes worth hundreds of millions of dollars to Bezeq. In exchange, they believe Netanyahu used his connections with Elovitch to receive positive press coverage on Bezeq's popular subsidiary news site, Walla. Police have said their investigation concluded that Netanyahu and Elovitch engaged in a "bribe-based relationship."

A significant development in Israel. He's barely clinging to power these days as it is.

Good news.

And see, in other countries they can indict a sitting head of state. It's not somehow an impossible scenario where the whole government comes to a grinding halt.
Different structures have different possibilities, obviously. Bibi is a smarmy murderous scumbag? How'd you guess?

Deja vu. Instead of responding to the criminal allegations against you, attack the prosecutors, attack the press, attack the left. Is the political right basically the same in every western country?
We are at a point in History similar to the Pre-WW2 era. Left and Right are gathering for what seems to be an epic battle. If that concludes with Violence or a more mature reasoned acceptance of a path to the future that all(sufficient Majority) can live with, is still undecided. If there is a god, may it help us, because these assholes we put in charge ain't helping.

If you and others are relying on god to help us, we've already lost.

Nothing can stand before the will of god and fortunately His will is written into our genes. Even monkeys know when they are getting the shaft when they are cheated in a game. You're just looking in the wrong place to see Him. God is because humans have empathy. He is simply the thought abstraction of the highest form of it. Don't forget that an abstraction is an abstraction, but of something in this case that is real. Faith is just trust that the good will always manifest in the end. This is a feeling that changes everything, an end to the fear of evil.

The Personalization bothers me somewhat, but the narrative is spot on. It is when we absurdly believe we know the Mind of God is where things begin to go terribly awry.

No, faith is simply a way for one to avoid uncomfortable truths and to absolve oneself from the reality of their decisions, actions and inactions. Religion is a tool used by those to manipulate others. Does that mean there is no good in religion? No. Religion is as good or bad as the person preaching it or practicing it, that is, it is no more or less evil or good than man himself is. Mans empathy exists whether or not god or religion exists.
Thinking good will always manifest in the end is foolish and pure laziness on the part of the believer. Good/evil happens sometimes automatically and in other times it requires work.

Waiting for good to happens reminds me of the story of the man who's town was flooded and who retreated to his rooftop and who refused the help from passers-by and emergency response personnel on the basis that God would save him. When he died on that roof and went to heaven he asked his God, "why didn't you save me?", God responded, “I tried but you refused to be helped by all the people I sent to help you".

Well, since I think the strain of corruption that took over too many Western countries really got started in Israel (yes Bibi had already been in power, but the manner in which he won the election was the first instance of the stuff that led to Brexit and Turmp), hopefully it'll be the start of undoing that. And hopefull Israel can get some sane, non-corrupt leader that can keep them from going further down the path of insanity they had started to adopt.

I'm hearing that the first credible political opponent to bibi is coming from the right so the cure might be worse than the disease.
