NET USE command in win2k

Homerboy

Lifer
for a variety of reasons, I have to assign a network printer to a machine here on LPT3

I type in:

NET USE LPT3 \\HP4SI\pr_lpt2 /persistent:yes
and it returns an error 59 and thats that.

I have many other machine here with the identical setting and those work perfectly fine excpet this one machine. I can not figure it out.

any input?

I'm just guessing but are there supposed to be two different LPT port numbers in that command? (you have both lpt2 and lpt3 in there)

IIRC, Error 59 is unexpected network error, right?

Are you able to browse to \\HP4SI? Any firewalls (hardware or software), routers, etc. - anything at all - sitting between that print server and the computer with the problem?

Can you ping the print server?
